Learning though Gardening while Making Our Communities Better
Our mission is to work together as a collaborative support network so that students can utilize the community gardens in their schools as both the basis of learning activities connected to school curricula as well as spaces that help to improve the communities in which they are located. We believe that students who feel the joy of using their learning to make the lives of others better will grow to be adults who are committed to solving real problems in the world. Our community gardens are a great place for students, their parents, and community members to learn about topics such as sustainability, nutrition, science, critical thinking, collaboration, and many other concepts that will serve them well in their life's journeys.
Each school has their own webpage and/or blog on the site where students can share updates about their garden, tips that they've learned to help the other schools, pictures, video, and any other information that they think is valuable. In addition, we will have regular video conference calls through technologies such as Skype with each other and our partners to learn about different ways we can utilize our gardens best to serve our communities.
