With the lumber here Mr. Friend and Mrs. Friend's Dad got to work. The lumber was unloaded in the afternoon allowing the 8th graders who had finished their test to be able to go outside and help with the building.
Several kiddos were put on soil duty. They had to research and find locations that sold soil and call to ask about pricing. They also learned how soil is sold in cubic feet, which mean't learning to figure that out for our garden. We found soil for $225, which beat the highest at $2,100!
Mr. Crouse went through our students designs and determined that this design would meet our needs the best! He also donate tons of seeds for use to use in our garden! We will have enough for this year and the next!
We also turned the plan over to our friend at Westar who will begin get our lumber ready. Westar is donating all the boards, soil, and hardware for the garden bed structure. The boards are used from old power polls.
